Build us a website! “Great!” I thought..but wait. What I believe a website is and should be and could be and what the top level executives at Flaman Group of Companies think a website is and should be are worlds apart.

They wanted a static brochure website. They believed a website is just a bunch of product images with descriptions underneath plus contact information somewhere on the site.

For marketing the site, just make sure that the moment the site is launched any relevant search string that they can randomly pontificate to me organically ranks number one in any search engine they might use. By the way “I think you should focus on Bing” one executive hinted to me. I suppose that is because he uses Bing and then therefore most others must do the same.

Several months later I explained the errors of thinking like a “Market of one” on a different topic. Perhaps with that concept explained and because I have not got to focusing on Bing for SEO he will not think badly of me.

So with this mountain of expectations how would you proceed? How do you change perceptions in any of the tasks assigned. Stay tuned I will explain what I did.
