In May of 2012, Saskatoon climbers attempted Mount Saskatchewan, the only unclimbed peak left in Canada’s remote centennial range in the Yukon. Situated over 100 miles by air from Haynes Junction YK, over the great glacier divide is a barren frozen destination, with no support available. Team Prairie Vertical set out with a goal of a coveted first ascent.

High on the mountain within reach of the summit conditions turned against them, and they soon released their goal of a first ascent had changed to getting back down safe and off the mountain. With the storm settling over the mountain, Steve cut the teams rations and began to lead the team down to the lower altitudes where there was a chance they could be extracted. Down through an avalanche shooting gallery and over collapsing snow bridges they traveled, by night and by day with food supplies dwindling, thus their time running out. Steve Whittington the expedition leader takes you through an audio visual presentation of the harrowing tale of their decent for seven days; with no way home, stuck on Mount Saskatchewan.
